It's the Summer of 1965, on Bainbridge Island WA, where the game of Pickleball was created by three friends, Barney McCallum, Joel Pritchard, a Seattle Congressman, Washington Senator and Lt. Governor, and Bill Bell to give their wining" I have nothing to do" children, "something to do". There was a broken down badminton court on the Pritchards property and the Dad's told their kids to go to the court and make "something" up! Using old ping pong paddles, badminton racquets, and a wiffle ball, with gales of laughter even the parents joined in the fun. The family dog, Pickles was chasing after every ball that came his way on the court, and running off with it. So soon after, when the time came to name this new sport/game, it was decided, according to McCallum, to name it after him and thus, Pickleball was established!
